Let's Get Logistical, Logistical!
Digging Deeper Into, You Guessed It, the Logistics of Substack
Now that the labor pains of starting a Substack are over (researching the different spaces, weighing the pros and cons of this particular space, taking the plunge and learning at least enough of the ins and outs to get started, accumulating at least some subscribers, actually writing the thing, sending it out into the void, sending it to actual people that you know in real life, and then breathing for a hot second before you start the next one), it’s time to dig a little deeper into what you as a reader can expect.
I know it’s not sexy, but we need to get some logistics out of the way sooner rather than later. Especially since most of my people aren’t familiar with Substack. And because I want to make following my journey as simple and enjoyable for ya’ll as I can.
And because as the wise April Ludgate once said, “Time is money, money is power, power is pizza, pizza is knowledge, let’s go!” You’re welcome, in advance, for all the Parks & Recreation quotes.
Let’s get the money out of the way first. You have three options to follow my Substack:
You can subscribe for free and receive my weekly newsletter, Mo’s Weekly Morsels, into your inbox each week. As you may already know, each week I give short snippets and pictures about what I’m currently writing, reading, eating, drinking, wondering, delighted by, watching, and listening to.
You can become a paid subscriber for only $5/month and receive my weekly newsletter as well as a weekly piece either going into greater detail about my trip once I leave, parenting, self improvement, mysticism, spirituality, rants about life in Illinois, or really anything. There are no rules. Okay, there are some rules. These pieces will most often be current, but I’ll throw in some older gems especially when I get started on my book (more on that to come!). I can’t promise that they’ll always (or ever) be pure gold. What I can promise is a little humor, a little cussing, and a lot of heart.
You can become a paid subscriber, but instead of paying monthly you can purchase an entire year of all of the above for only $50/year, rather than the $60/year it’d be if you were paying monthly.
I welcome any and all subscribers and immensely appreciate your support of my work. I can’t express that enough.
Whether a free or paid subscriber, there are other ways that you can support my writing:
“Liking” posts helps other readers discover my work and it brightens my day.
Commenting on posts helps to continue the conversation, create community, and provides more visibility for other readers. It also gives you the opportunity to engage with the text, ask questions, provide feedback, etc. Commenting is another perk of upgrading to a paid subscription.
Sharing posts with others you think might be interested of course broadens my audience and gives them the opportunity to discover a new community of writers and maybe even lead to starting a Substack of their own work.
Since I’m still new here, I’m sure there are things I’m leaving out that I’ll need to include in future posts. But that’s all for now and next week we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled programming of “A day in the life of a Mo”.
Again, I’m so incredibly grateful that you’re here, supporting my work in whatever fashion you choose, and following along for this crazy journey on which I’m about to embark!
